CEO Stefan Pierer wants a KTM 180 Duke for India

KTM Bajaj relationship is surely doing a world of good to the Indian biking scene. The KTM 200 Duke has become a hot favourite of majority of Indian bikers and the KTM 390 Duke should be here before Honda decides to launch its 500cc bikes in India.

Now, the 390 might not be the only bike that is coming our way. KTM CEO Stefan Pierer has plans to boost volumes through a ‘smaller-than-200’ bike.

Stefan Pierer has said that the new bike might fall in the 180-190cc category. The KTM 180 Duke, if it ever becomes a reality, would be less equipped than the 200 and would help KTM India sell 100,000 motorcycles annually over the next 3-4 years.

KTM’s new India spec products will be developed in collaboration with Bajaj and the Austrian bike maker would stress on heavy localization to keep the costs under check.

The KTM 180cc bike will debut some time in 2014-2015
