The country’s leading car maker, Maruti Suzuki has managed to sell 1,292,415 units for the year 2014-15, this being the highest annual sale ever by the Company. The previous high was in 2010-11, when the Company had sold 1,271,005 units. Riding high on the success of the Ciaz, the company sold a total of 111,555 units in March 2015. This includes 103,719 units in domestic market and 7836 units in exports. However, on a YoY basis, this number is lesser in comparison to March 2014, when the manufacturer managed to sell 113,350 units.

Maruti’s small car army which comprises of the Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Alto and Wagon-R along with the compact sedan Dzire, managed to ring in the majority of sales for the manufacturer. Exports on the other hand were weak for March 2015, witnessing a 29.3% drop, compared to the same month last year. However, for the year, 2014-15, the number of cars shipped out of the country witnessed a 20.1% growth.
