Important points about the Brio

  • Brio won’t have a CD player, just like its City sibling, will only run USB drives and will have an Aux-in port
  • Twin airbags and ABS available. I-SRS airbags sense the distance of your face, which means your face doesn’t get hit badly when the airbags are deployed
  • No driver’s seat height adjust
  • No parcel tray
  • Compact from outside, spacious from inside with a small size boot
  • Sturdy feeling car, with good ride quality and extremely peppy drive
  • Gear knob similar to that of the City
  • New three spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, very upmarket
  • AC vents with chrome bezels
  • Manual A/C – no automatic option
  • Slenderisation of seats within the cabin has liberated space. Seats have been made thin, to bring out the maximum possible knee room.
  • Overall quality and turnout is very good
  • Tail-gate is made of glass-only. Although made tough it doesn’t feel very upmarket.
  • The design at the rear makes the car looks small and squat To compete with the Figo / Beat / i10
  • Price expected to start from around Rs 4.0 lakh
  • Trim levels to be named similar to Honda City – E, S and V
  • High localization content, going up to 80%
  • Sporty looking brake and accelerator pedals

Features available / NA on the Brio

  • Power windows
  • Remote locking
  • Steering mounted controls
  • No rear washer and wiper
  • 5-spoke alloy wheels
  • Foglamps
  • No seat height adjustment
  • No Bluetooth connectivity

Takashi Nagai, CEO Honda SIEL at the Brio launch

  • Designed and developed for the Indian market
  • Honda cars ranked No.1 consistently in JD power surveys
  • Pleased to say that we have achieved the pricing target we had set ourselves
  • For the first time in the Honda Siel history, Indian engineeres and sesigners were involvd in the design and development of the Brio
  • Production facility at Tapukara plant to produce more parts for the Brio engine
  • 80% localization currently, likely to go up to 90% in the next few months
  • Experience from Brio localization to be applied to other models too
  • Brio components being exported to Thailand from the Tapukara plant
  • Export turnover this year to be 112 crore
  • This shows the quality of Indian components
  • Plan to expand dealership networks to smaller cities. 135 in 83 cities, 69% in smaller cities 143 dealerships in 91 cities by march 2012
