We have been reporting in detail about the upcoming BMW X4 coupe crossover concept that will make its public debut at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show. The concept model of the X4 will reveal the exterior design of BMW’s second Sports Activity Coupe.
Here is a video which shows BMW’s Exterior Design chief, Domagoj Dukec, talking about the design philosophy behind the Concept X4.
As confirmed by BMW’s Chief Executive, Norbert Reithofer, the BMW X4 will go on sale in 2014. As the name points out, the X4 will find itself placed between the X3 and the X5 in BMW’s product portfolio. The X4 is an important part of BMW’s plan to get rid of all the gaps in its product range.
The 2015 BMW X4 is based on the same platform as the X3. In essence, the X4 will play baby brother to the larger (and costlier) X6.
BMW says that the X6 and the X5 cater to two completely different segments of car buyers. On the same lines, the X4 won’t be targeted at traditional SUV buyers. The X4 will be to the X3 what the X6 is to the X5.
