BMW 1-Series M Coupe was the entry level M badged BMW available in some markets. Now, as BMW has put an end to its production, a replacement was due. Just yesterday we reported about the details and specifications of the upcoming 2-Series, and here we have details and images of the upcoming BMW M235i.
A successor to the 1-Series M Coupe, the M235i is likely to be built on the UKL1 platform and will be a front wheel drive. Under the hood, the car will be powered by a 3.0 liter turbocharged straight-six petrol motor which will produce a max power of 322HP and a peak torque of 450Nm. It will be available with a 6 speed manual transmission and an 8 speed automatic transmission. The car will hit the 100 kmph mark from standstill in just 4.8 secs (with automatic transmission; 5.0 seconds with a manual) and will be electronically limited to a top speed of 250kmph. The BMW M235i will have starting price of 503,079 Rand (approx INR 31.11 lakh) in South America. The BMW 2-Series will also be offered in the 220i and 220d variants and the details can be obtained on the above link.
The car will be a direct rival of Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG and the Audi RS3. With the 1-Series M Coupe no longer in production, it will be interesting to see the level of fun-to-drive factor provided by the M235i.
