BMW India recently rolled out the 2016 X1 from the company’s plant located in Chennai. The model was launched at the Auto Expo held in Delhi earlier this year. As we wait for the new X1 to grace the roads, another exciting piece of news comes from the house of the Bavarian automobile manufacturer.

If reports are to be believed, the Indian arm of BMW will soon re-introduce the M-Performance power kits for a number of its models in the country. Kits for models such as the 320d, 520d, 530d and the X5 30d were earlier available but later discontinued towards the end of 2014 citing homologation problems. The decision was largely criticized by customers.

The M Performance kits features official engine remaps and hardware modifications that would considerably enhance the performance of the engine. A reprogrammed ECU, a larger intercooler as compared to the stock unit, redesigned air intakes; a powerful cooling fan and an optional performance tuned exhaust are also on offer.

Premium models such as the 530d and the X5 30d will also stand to benefit from larger brakes at the front. These kits will not have an effect on the company warranty of the vehicle. Prices for the kits have not been revealed and are expected to be out once the company makes an official announcement regarding the kits.
