A Pulsar badge has been part of Indian roads for 25 years, and Bajaj has marked the anniversary with two new N160 versions. The N160 S and N160 SS bring a bigger set of features, a new engine and more electronic equipment to the popular street bike. Prices start at Rs 1,33,511 for the N160 S and go up to Rs 1,42,585 for the N160 SS, ex-showroom Delhi.
New Engine And Better Performance
The biggest mechanical update sits under the fuel tank. Both bikes use a 164.5cc single-cylinder four-valve engine. It makes 18.5 PS at 9,500rpm and 14.4Nm at 8,000rpm.
Bajaj claims a 0-60kmph time of 4.5 seconds. The motor gets oil cooling and an Electronic Throttle Body. A five-speed gearbox is used.

Four Riding Modes
The electronic throttle also brings more control options. Both versions get Road, Rain, Sport and Off-road modes. Each mode changes the throttle response for different riding conditions.
There is also Crawl Technology. It helps the bike move slowly in higher gears, which can make stop-and-go traffic easier without constant clutch use.
N160 S And N160 SS Features
The two versions do not get the same equipment. The N160 S has an LCD console with Bluetooth and turn-by-turn navigation. The N160 SS gets a 5-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Google Maps mirroring.
The SS also gets traction control, dual-channel ABS and adjustable clutch and brake levers. The S uses single-channel ABS and fixed levers.

Chassis And Brakes
Bajaj has also made changes to the hardware. The new bikes use 37mm USD front forks instead of the 33mm units on the regular N160. Braking comes from a larger 300mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc.
Both versions have a 14-litre fuel tank, 795mm seat height and 165mm ground clearance. The front tyre is 100/80-17, while the rear gets a 130/70-17 radial tyre.
Design And Colours
The basic streetfighter shape continues, but the new models get sharper graphics and coloured alloy wheels. The N160 SS also has revised handlebar positioning and seat height details for better comfort.
Three colours are offered: Atlantic Blue, Pearl Metallic White and Brooklyn Black.
The regular two-valve N160 will continue in the range. So buyers now have three N160 choices at different prices and equipment levels. The new S and SS give the Pulsar a stronger engine and more technology without moving away from its familiar street bike character. For daily riders, the N160 S offers the engine upgrade without going too far on price. The SS adds safety equipment and connectivity for riders who want more features. Both give the N160 family a fresh choice for the 25th year of Pulsar.
