Bajaj Pulsar CS400 Concept
Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj has confirmed that the fastest Pulsar, the Pulsar CS400, will ride into the Indian market in August 2016. Bajaj confirmed the launch date at the Company’s recently concluded Annual General Meeting. The management had dropped the hint about the launch on several occasions before stating that the Pulsar CS400 will be launched in the third quarter of 2016 (July-September).

The motorcycle was first unveiled in the concept form at the 2014 Auto Expo. However, the Company chose to stay out from the 2016 installment of the motoring show. As reported earlier, the design of the production motorcycle will largely remain unchanged from the concept apart from some minor tweaks. For example, unlike the concept motorcycle, the production spec CS400 will feature conventional telescopic front suspension instead of the USD front forks.

Similar to the NS200, the CS400 will be a mellowed down avatar of the KTM Duke 390. The engine will be closely related to the KTM’s 373.2 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, but the CS400 would employ Bajaj’s patented triple-spark technology. Power and torque will be relatively detuned from the 390 Duke with an aim to offer tractable performance and good drivability, rather than outright performance. So while the KTM 390 Duke delivers a 43 bhp of power, the CS400 is likely to churn out between 35-40 bhp. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission.
The CS400 is also expected to be available in two variants – ABS and Non-ABS. The prices like expected to be between INR 1.5-1.8 lakh (ex-showroom) with the ABS equipped variant carrying a premium over the standard model.
