It seems like Bajaj Auto Ltd has suddenly quickened the development of the upcoming faired variant of the 200NS. Rumored to be dubbed as the Pulsar 200SS, test mules of the upcoming bike were yesterday spotted in Ooty. Now, a spy pic of the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS, being tested in Panchgani, has surfaced on the cyber space.

Going by the frequency of all these sightings, we won’t be too surprised to see the 200SS being unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in early February next year.

The latest spy pic, along with the ones we have seen so far, have revealed that there would be more to the 200SS than just an addition of the fairing. It seems like the bike would get a stubby exhaust on the right (the 200NS has an underbelly exhaust). Also, many other panels WON’T be shared with the naked sibling. The SS will also get a set of clip ons that should suit the tourers. The indicators seem to have been borrowed from the Duke and the same could be said about the LED taillight. The bike also gets Steel braided brake hoses and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS rings seen in earlier spy pics). The RVMs on the 200SS, in all probability, would be more useful than those of the now-dated Pulsar 220S. Most importantly, the bike would sport a twin projector headlamp setup.

The 200SS will share its suspension with the 200NS and will be powered by a re-tuned, four valve, four stroke, single pot 200cc motor that is expected to have a higher peak power-torque output than that of the NS. For the NS, this engine produces of 23.5 PS-1.86 kgm. We believe that for the 200SS, the motor could dump the carb. in favor of a FI unit.

As we have been saying, the 200SS could have an introductory price of INR 1.10 lakhs, which would mean that the upcoming bike would be a Yamaha R15 adversary.

Also, the 200SS might just be the perfect successor to the Pulsar 220S. What do you say?
Stay tuned to Motoroids for more dope on the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 200SS.

  1. It might compete against the Yamaha R15,But will never come close to it in terms of quality, feel and other features.
    After all it’s a Bajaj.
