Bajaj Dominar

Bajaj Dominar 400 shows up in new spy images; prices revealed

By now, most of you must be well acquainted with the highly anticipated Bajaj Dominar 400. Now, a new set of spy images show Bajaj’s upcoming flagship in its final form, replete with Dominar branding and a dual tone paint-job.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Design

The Dominar’s styling will stay exactly similar to the concept motorcycle (Pulsar CS 400) displayed at the 2014 Auto Expo, except for a couple of visual (and functional) differences.  While the concept featured upside down front forks, the production version will come out with beefy, yet conventional telescopic front forks.

Also, the front petal disc brake is positioned on the RHS of the production version of the motorcycle. The prominent Dominar badge (revealed earlier)  proudly on the muscular tank, while the tail section gets D 400 branding.

The Dominar will be available with the option of a dual tone colour scheme right from the factory. While we’ve seen a dark blue + black combo in previous spy images, this white + black combo looks pretty neat too.

The Dominar 400’s full LED headlamp was revealed in yesterday’s teaser video. The Dominar 400 will be the first motorcycle in its segment as well as the first Indian motorcycle to come equipped with the feature.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Instrument Cluster

As shown on the concept, the Dominar features a fully digital, yet spilt instrument cluster, with the primary display being traditionally mounted on the handlebars, while the secondary display is positioned on top of the fuel tank. The former will display RPM, speed, the fuel gauge and a trip computer amongst other information, while the latter will display the ABS and side-stand indicators.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Engine

The Dominar’s engine will be closely related to the KTM’s 373.2 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, but it employs Bajaj’s patented triple-spark technology. Power and torque will be detuned significantly from the Duke 390, with more focus on tractable performance and good drivability, rather than outright poke.

Power output is rated at 35 BHP at 8000 rpm, down from the KTM’s 43 BHP output. But now its being said that the Dominar 400 will come in two variants having different states of tune – one will produce the aforementioned 35 BHP, while the other is expected to produce more than 40 BHP.

Also, the lower variant will get single-channel ABS, while the higher, more powerful variant will be equipped with dual-channel ABS. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission, with different gear ratios from the KTM. All that poke should allow for a 155 kph top speed for the base variant.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Mileage

City 35 km/l
Highway 40 km/l

The Dominar 400 is expected to return around 35-40 km/l, which is impressive considering its a “big bike”.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Price

Bajaj Dominar 400 Price

Variant Price (on-road, New Delhi)
Single channel ABS INR 1.8 lakhs
Dual-channel ABS INR 2.2 lakhs

As per the report, these are the prices that the Dominar 400 will retail at. If it turns out to be true, then the power-cruiser gets really aggressive pricing. But this was expected, considering Rajiv Bajaj had already announced earlier that it’ll enter Royal Enfield’s territory and inflict some damage.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Launch

The Dominar 400, Bajaj’s most powerful motorcycle till date, will launch on December 15th, 2016. Stay tuned!

  1. It’s December 15, 2016 not Dec 15,2017..
If the price is really going to be that high than I don’t think I would consider to buy it.
