Auto Expo 2016: Mercedes Benz showcases the AMG GT, GLE 450 and GL 350

Mercedes Benz India had a quite a few interesting products on display ranging from the G wagon 4×4² to the AMG GT among other vehicles. The G wagon caught a lot of attention due to its size and more particularly, its height, standing high at 2.25 metres. Some other products which were on display at the Mercedes Benz pavilion were The Mercedes AMG GT, Mercedes GLE 450 and the Mercedes GL 350. The GLC was another highlight, along with the scintillating S500 Cabrio and the tough as nails S600 Guard. While we have talked about some of the products at the Mercedes-Benz pavilion at the Auto Expo in detail, here we will take a wider look at the overall line-up .

Mercedes AMG GT (1)

The Mercedes Benz AMG GT is the successor to the SLS AMG and replaced the gull winged coupe when it was unveiled last year. The second car to be entirely developed by the performance division of Mercedes Benz in Affalterbach known as Mercedes AMG, the AMG GT is internationally available in 2 variants – the AMG GT and the AMG GT S with only the latter version coming to Indian shores. Powering this 2 seater coupe is a 4.0 litre bi-turbo V8 petrol engine that produces a power output of 510 hp at 6250 rpm while the peak torque of 650 Nm comes up at 1750-4750 rpm. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 7 speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT Sports Transmission. The AMG GT is available at a price of Rs 2.4 crores (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).

Mercedes-Benz GLE 450

Mercedes Benz India recently launched the GLE 450 in India at Rs. 86.4 lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai).  The GLE 450 AMG Coupe is the first performance oriented SUV from the German automobile manufacturer and will take on the BMW X6 in India. Powering this SUV Coupe is a 3.0 litre V6 bi-turbo petrol engine that produces a peak power output of 367 hp at 5500-6000 rpm while the peak torque of 520 Nm comes up at 2000-4200 rpm.  Power is sent to the wheels with the help of a 9G-Tronic 9 speed transmission. 0-100 kmph comes up for the GLE coupe in 5.7 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph.

Mercedes-Benz GL350 CDI

The GL 350 from the Mercedes Benz stable has been around for some time now, and is soon to be replaced in India by its newer GLS version. T5he current gen model, too, has its own aura, and it’s fondly known as the S class of SUVs. It is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 engine that produces s power output of 255 hp at 3600 rpm while the peak torque of 619 Nm  comes up at 1600-2400 rpm. The GL 350 retails for a price starting at Rs. 77.5 lakhs (Ex-Showroom).
