Regulars here would remember that we reported in detail when popular German premium car maker Audi launched the new flagship variant of the R8 supercar. We also reported when it emerged that this new variant is headed our way. Christened as the Audi R8 V10 Plus, the new top of the line variant will be launched in Indian market tomorrow, i.e., on April 4 2013.
Powering the new R8 V10 Plus is a 5.2 litre V10 engine that has been sourced from Lamborghini. This engine also powers the R8 Spyder and the R8 V10 Coupe. In the R8 V10 Plus variant though, the engine has been tuned to offer more power. In the R8 V10 Plus, this Lamborghini V10 engine delivers a max power output of 550 bhp and a peak torque figure of 540Nm. This means that power is increased by 25bhp and the torque by 10Nm over the Spyder and V10 Coupe. Power is transmitted to all four wheels by a 7-speed S Tronic gearbox.
The Audi R8 V10 Plus can accelerate from 100 kmph from standstill in just 3.5 seconds and the flagship variant has a top whack of 317kmph. The V10 Plus is 0.1 second quicker and 3kmph faster than the V10 Coupe. The R8 V10 Plus is also the quickest production Audi ever.
The Audi R8 V10 Coupe used to sell in India for a price of INR 1.57 crore and it is being expected that the post budget price for the R8 V10 would be close to INR 1.81 crore.
Hence, the Audi R8 V10 Plus can safely be expected to cost north of INR 2 Crores when it is launched in India. Stay tuned for more info.
