Popular German luxury car maker Audi launches the new Audi A8L 4.2 TDI in Indian market. The new variant of the car joins the base 3.0 TDI quattro, mid-level 4.2 FSI petrol and flagship 6.3 W12 Quattro variants. The new variant has been positioned between the 4.2 FSI and 6.3 W12. The car is powered by a 4.2 liter V8 turbo diesel that pumps out a very healthy output of 340 PS-760 Nm. The motor is mated to an 8 speed sequential automatic and a Quattro all wheel drive system. The manufacturer is claiming a 5.5 seconds timing for 0 to 100 kmph acceleration run and the car has an electronically limited top whack of 250 kmph. The car should deliver close to the claimed 13.1 kmpl in real world conditions. The car comes equipped with Head up Display (HUD) unit, two piece panoramic sunroof, Bang and Olufsen sound system and a 4 zone auto aircon among other creature comforts.

Audi says, “The new A8 continues to lead the Audi shift into the midsized-to-large luxury vehicle segments in Model Year 2012 with a new flagship model, enhanced interior options, and standard Audi connect online car services.” The new A8 4.2 TDI Quattro appears to be a wise option for Jason Statham in case his A8 W12 is torturing him with fuel bills.

The flagship oil burner variant of the Audi A8L (13 cm longer than A8) has been introduced with a sticker price of INR 1,00,75,000 (ex showroom, Maharashtra).
