Aston Martin and AMG confirm technical partnership

Aston-Martin-and-AMG

Several speculations later, Mercedes-AMG GmbH and Aston Martin today announced their plans for a technical partnership..

While the final points of this deal would come to light only be the end of 2013, we do know that the partnership would enable Aston Martin to borrow from Mercedes-AMG, which would lead to development of new age V8 engines. Also, Aston Martin will use parts of some electric and electronic systems belonging to the German premium car maker.

In return of all this, Daimler AG gets to have up to five percent stake in Aston Martin. This means that Daimler AG will join other shareholders like Adeem Investment and Investindustrial.

Talking about this deal, Aston Martin’s product development director Ian Minards announced “We have selected AMG specifically as the basis for this powertrain development process.” Head of Mercedes-AMG GmbH Ola Källenius said “We are proud to work with Aston Martin and provide them with powertrain and e/e components for their forthcoming sports cars. This is proof of AMG’s technological and performance expertise and a real win-win situation for both sides.”
