Assam: 15-year old takes Mahindra Scorpio out for a spin with friends; turns out to be fatal

As many parts of the country celebrated Guru Nanak Jayanti and children’s day on November 14th, four school going children were killed after the SUV they were travelling in met with an accident. The four occupants of the were killed after one of the 15-year, old 10th standard students driving the Mahindra Scorpio allegedly lost control.

Reports suggest that all the four students, studying at Asian Public School in the North Lakhimpur area of Assam died on the spot. The accident took place at the under-construction NH-15 bypass when the Scorpio, allegedly driven by one of the youngsters, lost control while making a sudden turn before rolling over multiple times and finally hitting a railing of a bridge. It is also believed that none of the occupants of the ill fated vehicle were wearing seat belts and hence, even if there were any airbags, they wouldn’t have deployed during the mishap.

The news comes less than a fortnight after a professional racer, who is also the son of a Supreme court lawyer, was found guilty of rash and negligent driving in his Porsche Cayman S. The mishap resulted in the death of one person while 10 others were reported injured. The accused was later asked to pay INR 27.5 lakh as compensation to the affected families.
