Internationally, the Scrambler 1200 is sold on two variants – XC and XE. The former variant happens to be more road biased and the latter prefers the dirt. According to reports, our market will only be receiving the road-biased XC variant. Standard kit on the motorcycle shall also include Showa forks at the front and Öhlins springs at the rear. which suspend the tubular cradle frame. In the road-biased XC variant, the front and rear suspension get 200 mm of travel, which is quite a lot for some mild off-road trails. The front wheel, measuring 21-inches in diameter will be offered with twin 320 mm and a single 225 mm disc at the rear with a 17-inch wheel. Brakes at both ends will be supplied by Brembo and shall be governed by a cornering ABS unit, which can be switched on or off to suit the needs of the rider.

Coming to the power plant, the Scrambler will use the same block as the Thruxton R, but would carry a different set of tune. This new tuning has been done to suit the riding characteristics of a Scrambler. The 1,200 cc liquid-cooled, parallel twin motor shall produce a maximum output of 89 horses at 7,400 rpm and a maximum twist of 110 Nm shall be obtained at 3,950 rpm. This power will be sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed transmission which gets a slipper and assist clutch. This lovely new motorcycle is expected to be priced between INR 11 Lakh to INR 13 Lakh when launched in the market. Keep looking at this space for more news on this all-new Scrambler.
