A one of its kind Mumbai-Pune CNG car drive on 13th November

A one of its kind CNG drive with over 40 CNG cars / vehicles participating will take place between Mumbai and Pune via Panvel. The drive will start from Bandra Kurla Exhibition ground at 9.30 AM on 13th November, 2010 on way to Pune via Panvel using CNG only as fuel for the journey.  The idea behind the drive is to popularize the use of CNG as a fuel for personal transport within the city and on the highway.

The CNG Eco drive will be flagged off by Shri Murli Deora, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas.  The route of the drive will be Bandra Kurla Exhibition Ground – Sion – Chembur – Thane Creek Breach – Palm Beach Road – Belapur – Panvel NH 4 – Khalapur and Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Mahanagal Gas Limited (MGL) will be providing free fuel for the drive. The vehicles can be refueled at GAIL Gas Limited CNG station at Panvel and the drive will conclude at the CNG mother station of Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) in Chinchwad – Chikali, Pune.

The sponsors for the event are GAIL Gas Limited, Mahanagar Gas Limited, Everest Kanto Cylinder, Mahindra & Mahindra, TATA Motors, Maruti Suzuki India, Indraprastha Gas Limited, Nitin Cylinders, Aavantika Gas Limited, Bhagyanagar Gas Limited, Central Uttar Pradesh Gas Limited and Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited.

This drive is a precursor to the NGV 2010 Conference and Exhibition to be held in Mumbai from 24 to 26 November 2010. NGV is the world’s largest Exhibition and Conference and NGV India 2010 in Mumbai is expected to be the biggest among these.
