A Sneak Peek into the XUV.e8
The latest spy shots from Mahindra’s factory premises provide an intriguing glimpse of the XUV.e8, hinting at a design ethos partly shared with its gasoline counterpart, the XUV700.
The bonnet and doors exhibit a familiar profile, echoing the XUV700’s characteristic kink near the C-pillar and a flowing roofline. These visual cues align seamlessly with Mahindra’s earlier design patent.
Unique EV Aesthetics
While the exterior draws inspiration from the XUV700, the XUV.e8 boasts an all-new front grill. A striking full-width LED light bar takes center stage, extending vertically into the bumper. True to EV conventions, a sealed-off grille dominates the front, housing triangular headlamps embedded in the bumper. Though the rear remains a mystery, expectations align with the XUV.e8 concept, mirroring the conventional XUV700 design.
Interior Sophistication
Spy shots inside the XUV.e8 reveal a tech-infused haven. Three horizontally aligned screens adorn the dashboard – a digital driver’s display, an infotainment hub, and a passenger-specific information screen.
Complemented by a touch-based climate control panel and a flat-bottomed steering wheel, the XUV.e8 interior combines aesthetics with functionality.
Strategic Parts Sharing
To maintain competitive pricing, Mahindra strategically opts for some parts sharing with the XUV700. Expect shared components in switchgear, door panels, and seats, ensuring a balance between sophistication and cost-effectiveness.
Powertrain Prowess
Despite sharing the XUV700’s external frame, the XUV.e8 stands apart internally. Riding on Mahindra’s born-electric INGLO skateboard platform, it promises an exclusive driving experience. The confirmed all-wheel-drive system and battery options up to 80kWh underline its commitment to versatility. Power outputs ranging from 230hp to 350hp reinforce its ability.
Expected Release
The XUV.e8 is set to mark Mahindra’s venture into EV production, hitting the market by December 2024. Following closely in its footsteps is the SUV-coupe variant, the XUV.e9, promising a comprehensive EV lineup from Mahindra.
