One of Ducati’s most anticipated bikes is set to launch in India on August 10. We are talking about the new Ducati Monster V2. It brings a new engine, a lighter body and a fresh look, but the bike still keeps the basic Monster character that riders know.
New 890cc V2 engine
The biggest change is the engine. Ducati has used an 890cc V2 unit, which is also seen in the Panigale V2, Streetfighter V2 and Multistrada V2.
The engine makes around 109-111hp and 91Nm. Peak power arrives at 9,000rpm, while peak torque comes at 7,250rpm.

Lighter body and new frame
The Monster V2 gets an aluminium monocoque chassis. Ducati has also worked on the weight, and the bike weighs 175kg in wet weight without fuel. This is 4kg less than the outgoing Monster.
The bike also gets a larger looking fuel tank. Its capacity is still 14 litres, so the extra visual bulk does not mean more fuel.
Features and equipment
The new Monster comes with a good list of electronic features. Riders get a quickshifter, ride modes and traction control. The suspension setup includes a Showa 43mm USD fork and a Showa rear monoshock with preload adjustment.

Design gets a fresh look
The new Monster has a round oval LED headlight, a compact tail and an exposed engine section. The fuel tank has a fuller shape than before, giving the motorcycle a more muscular appearance.
The bike also gets a sharp and athletic stance without losing the simple street bike shape that has been part of the Monster name for years. The seat and tail section look compact, and the exposed mechanical parts add a sporty feel. It should also feel easier to manage in city traffic. The updated chassis should also make weekend rides more enjoyable on winding roads.
Expected price in India
Ducati currently sells the Monster at Rs 13.84 lakh ex-showroom. The new Monster V2 is expected to cost around Rs 14 lakh. A Monster Plus version could cost another Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. The August 10 launch will reveal its final price and India specific details.
