Hyundai Motor India has unveiled the 2017 Verna facelift. The Indian arm of the Korean automobile manufacturer will launch the new Verna on August 22, 2017. Bookings for the new Verna are now open and can be made at a Hyundai dealership or on the company’s official website against an amount of INR 25,000.
The new Verna will be built on Hyundai’s new K2 platform. The new Verna, with the Super Body Structure, is built on an Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) body structure including hot stamping applications that enables the sedan for better performance and safety ensuring the best body rigidity, structural changes and crash performance. The chassis and impact harshness claims to offer superior road feedback to the driver for a confident driving experience.
The upcoming Verna facelift, according to the company, has low NVH characteristics by the use of sound absorption materials and improved engineering of design. Multiple measures have been taken to contain NVH to barely perceptible traces such as the engine and transmission mount design change, implementation of tunnel insulator and extensive application of foam filler in cavity.
The fifth generation Verna is built on the all new K2 platform. The rear suspension geometry of the sedan has been modified for stable and comfortable ride for rear passengers by vertical angle of rear shock absorbers and coil springs on the coupled torsion beam axle. The front suspension uses a McPherson strut with coil springs and gas shock absorbers along with a front stabilizer to help reduce the body roll when cornering. The standard Motor-Driven Power Steering System (MDPS) has been tuned to provide superior feedback while cornering and at high speeds. The front wheel caster angle has been modified to further enhance the steering feedback to the driver at Highway speeds.
The 2017 Hyundai Verna will be available with two engine options: a 123 PS 1.6 litre Dual VTVT petrol and a 128 PS 1.6 litre U2 CRDi VGT diesel engine. The engines will come mated to a six speed manual transmission as standard while a six speed automatic transmission will be available as an option.
