The 2017 Honda CBR500R and CB500F have received a new colour option for the Malaysian market. For 2017, both motorcycles get the new Lemon Ice Yellow scheme. The Millennium Red and Matte Gunpowder Black are carried over from the previous year. Apart from the visual upgrade in form of graphics, there are no changes to the motorcycles.
As aforementioned, there are no mechanical changes to the motorcycles and both, the CBR500R and CB500F use the same 471 cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled parallel twin PGM-Fi engine tuned to deliver 46.9 hp at 8,500 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed transmission. Anchoring duties are performed by a 320 mm disc upfront and 240 mm disc at the rear.
Other features include telescopic fork with pre-load adjustment upfront and 9-stage pre-load adjustable monoshock at the rear, LED headlight and tail light, and LCD instrument console.
The motorcycles are available in two trims – standard and ABS. The standard CBR500R is priced at RM31,681 (4.76 lakh) while the ABS equipped version is available at RM35,179 (INR 5.29 lakh). The standard CB500F, on the other hand, is priced at RM31,363 (INR 4.72 lakh) while the ABS model is available at (INR 5.25 lakh). These motorcycles are long way from the Indian market and we do not expect to see them here any time soon.
