Triumph Motorcycles have extended its product portfolio with the addition of the Tiger Explorer XR and XC adventure tourer motorcycles. The multi-variant strategy of the same product was earlier seen on the 800cc variants of the Triumph Tiger family. The new Triumph Tiger Explorer will be available in six variants – XC, XCx, XCa, XR, XRx and XRt. The XR badge motorcycles would be road focused while the variants with XC nomenclature would be off-road spec.

The new 2016 Triumph Tiger Explorer XR and XC features sharp new lines that add to the aesthetics and claim to offer enhanced rider and passenger thermal comfort. Additionally, all models introduce a first-in-class electrically adjustable screen that allows the rider to constantly tailor aero protection and comfort whilst riding.

The Explorer features a new 12 valve 1215cc three-cylinder engine that is designed to deliver linear torque and power and comes mated to a 6 speed gearbox. The engine gets a new exhaust system and complies with the Euro 4 emission norms. All versions will use a shaft drive.

The Tiger Explorer XCx, XCa, XRx and XRT variants get Triumph Semi Active Suspension system. This system allows the rider to electronically control the adjustment of the front and rear suspension damping, automatically adapting the rear shock absorber pre-load settings and providing optimal grip and drive. The new Tiger Explorer series, along with Brembo monobloc calipers, comes equipped with multi-channel switchable ABS and traction control as standard across the range. The other four models come with cornering-optimised ABS and traction control.

The XCx, XCA, XRx and XRT models feature an Inertial Measurement Unit that, through a series of sensors, monitors and responds to the bike’s movement status, calculates the lean angle of the bikes and uses this measurement to optimise the performance of the ABS and traction control systems. Moreover, the Tiger Explorer XRT and Tiger Explorer XCA offer a new Hill Hold Control feature that prevents the motorcycle rolling back when attempting to set off on a steep incline.

The new Tiger Explorer family gets five Rider Modes, four which are pre-set while the last one can be programmed by the rider – to suit his/her riding style, road and weather conditions.
