Toyota India has teased one of its upcoming models in a recently launched teaser. The Indian arm of the Japanese automobile manufacturer will launch the all-new Fortuner SUV on 7th November 2016. The news comes barely a few days after a few units of the model made their way to the local showrooms.

Based on the same International Multi-Purpose Platform (IMP) that underpins the Innova Crysta as well, the new Fortuner is now 15 mm wider and 90 mm longer than the latter while the wheelbase of 2740 mm remains the same. Features on the model will include LED DRLs, projector headlamps, LED tail lights, 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system, reverse camera, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, engine start-stoop button, Traction Control system, Downhill Assist button and three driving modes- Power, Eco and Pro.
Powering the models would be Toyota’s range of 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre GDI diesel engines seen on its sibling, the Innova Crysta. While the 2.4-litre engine will be paired exclusively to a six speed manual transmission, the 2.8-litre engine will come mated only with the six speed automatic transmission. Both the models are likely to receive the company’s optional 4WD system as an option.

It remains unclear whether the brand will introduce the 2.7-litre petrol motor in the country at a later stage. The new Fortuner could arrive with a tentative pricing of INR 33 lakh but could later be pushed all the way up to INR 40 lakh.
