2016 Toyota Fortuner 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre reaches Indian dealerships

The 2016 Toyota Fortuner has been spied and spotted in India for a while now. Weeks before the launch of the premium SUV in the country which is scheduled to happen on 7 November 2016, a new set of images have emerged suggesting that the 2016 Toyota Fortuner has reached a dealership in south India. The images have been posted on a social networking portal by Guhan Shetty. Toyota has already commenced registrations for the all new Fortuner through their official website. We have some spy pics for you as well, courtesy – Balamurali RB!

The images seem to be taken at some Toyota facility or dealership since a few more from the car maker’s stable including the Innova Crysta and Etios are seen parked around. In Thailand, the new Fortuner can be had in 2.8-litre, 2.7-litre(petrol), or 2.4-litre engine options. Speaking of the 2.8-litre and 2.4-litre diesel engines, the former can produce 174hp at 3,400 rpm and a torque of 450Nm between 1,600 – 2,400 rpm and the latter is capable of delivering 147hp at 3,400rpm and 400nm between 1,600 and 2,000rpm.

Reportedly, the 2.4L engine will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission only and the 2.8L engine will be exclusively available with a 6-speed automatic transmission. We are not sure if the 2.7L petrol unit will make it to the Indian soil.

According to the uploader, the Fortuner in white is powered by a 2.8-litre engine whereas the one in brown is a 2.4-litre. The comments section also suggests that the new Fortuner will roll out for a tentative price starting from INR 33 Lakhs and will go all the way up to INR 40 Lakhs.

The feature set that will be loaded on to the top-end Fortuner will include projector headlights with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, and reversing camera. The ride will be assisted by an A-TRC Traction Control (TRC) system, Downhill Assist Control (DAC) system, driving modes, and cruise control. Other features will include electric tailgate, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, and a 7-inch touchscreen-equipped T-Connect infotainment system with satellite navigation.
