Olympic winners Sakhi Malik, PV Sindhu and Dipa Karmakar made the country proud after making their mark at the recently concluded 2016 Rio Olympics. We had earlier reported that Sakshi Malik would be receiving a customized Mahindra Thar, courtesy of Mahindra & Mahindra Chariman, Anand Mahindra. Now, it is learnt that the aforementioned sportswomen as well as Indian badminton coach Pullela Gopichand have been gifted a BMW.

The vehicles were presented to the sports personalities by Goodwill ambassador of the Indian team at the Rio Olympics, Sachin Tendulkar. The models gifted to them were the BMW X1 and the BMW 3 series. These vehicles were sponsored by B. Chamudeswarnath, President of the Hyderabad Badminton Association of India. Chamudeswarnath had also gifted a BMW to badminton player Saina Nehwal back in 2012 after she won a medal at the London Olympics.

Both, the BMW X1 and 3 series, which arrive in India through the CKD route, are sold in India with a price tag of INR 29.9 lakh and INR 36.9 lakh respectively (all prices Ex-Showroom, Delhi). While the former is available only with a 190 hp 2.0 litre diesel engine, the latter is available with a 184 hp 2.0 litre petrol engine as well as the 190 hp 2.0 litre diesel engine.
