Recently Honda unveiled their all new Honda Civic hatchback Prototype at the Geneva Motor Show 2016; the prototype showcased the carmakers vision for the future Civic range. Following the unveil, Honda has launched the all-new tenth generation Honda Civic in Thailand at prices starting from 869,000 baht.

The all-new 2016 Honda Civic in its tenth gen is rolled out in four model variants that are Civic 1.8E, Civic 1.8 EL, Civic Turbo, and Civic Turbo RS. The new Civic range is claimed to be the most cutting edge Civic ever made and also gets the new 1.5 VTEC Turbo power-plant under its hood. On the visual front the design of the new Civic has been reworked to elevate the sporty character. The sleek sporty design with sharp character lines provide the sedan with a bold look. the front fascia comprises of a chrome front grille in wing shape extended to sporty headlights with LED DRLs.

On the inside the 2016 Honda Civic features decent quality materials and the passenger cabin seems to be spacious. On the center console it features a 7-Inch Display Audio Touchscreen, wireless telephone connectivity via Bluetooth, and USB port that supports Apple CarPlay. A Multi-Information Display allows many utility functions which could be switched displayed information and searched by alphabet using control buttons on the steering wheel.  The Engine Remote Start feature can turn on the engine and the air-conditioner remotely while the doors remain locked and the car is immobilized until the driver enters inside the car with the smart key and start the engine.

The new Honda Civic draws power from a new 1.5-liter DOHC VTEC Turbo engine strapped to a new CVT that is developed under Earth Dreams Technology. The engine lashes out 170 Bhp of power at 5,500 rpm and a max torque of 220 Nm between 1,700 – 5,500 rpm. The performance of this new power-plant is claimed to be comparable to a 2.4-liter engine but with better fuel efficiency equivalent to a 1.8-liter engine. The 1.8-liter SOHC i-VTEC engine delivers a power of 139 Bhp at 6,500 rpm and 174 Nm of max torque at 4,300 rpm, this engine is also compatible with E85 fuel. On the safety front the sedan is  packed with features like Honda Lane Watch that provides a better view of the vehicle’s left-side blind spot, Electric Parking Brake (EPB), Auto Brake Hold, and Walk Away Auto Lock automatically locks the car when the smart key is kept away.

 As mentioned earlier the all-new 2016 Honda Civic will be available in four model variants:

1.8 i-VTEC E  869,000 baht (approx. INR 16.6 Lakhs)

1.8 i-VTEC EL at 959,000 baht (approx. INR 18.3 Lakhs)

1.5-liter VTEC TURBO at 1,099,000 baht (approx. INR 21 Lakhs)

1.5-liter VTEC TURBO RS at 1,199,000 baht (approx. INR 22.9 Lakhs)

There are five choices of exterior colors, namely White Orchid Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, and two new colors namely Lunar Silver Metallic and Cosmic Blue Metallic. The Civic is also expected to roll out it its Modulo version, Honda’s Custom performance version that may get performance upgrades.

Congratulations Thailand for the all new Civic. While the world is getting the all new Civic sedans and hatchbacks, the Indian markets still awaits an update!
