Triumph America unveiled the 2015 Triumph Thruxton Ace Special Edition café-racer at the 2014 Barber Vintage Festival at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, US, recently.

The Ace Special nametag comes from its long association with the famous Ace Café in London, a favourite hangout for Britain’s bikers and motorcyclists since the post-war era. Thanks to the biker gangs hanging around it at all times of the day since the 60’s, the Ace Café has cemented itself as a towering symbol of counterculture in general, and café-racers in particular.

Adorned with Ace Café logos on the side panels, tank and tail section, the Triumph Thruxton Ace Special Edition is done up in evocative black and white colours. Mechanically, nothing has changed though, with motive power coming from the standard Thruxton’s parallel twin engine. It produces 70PS of peak power and 70 Nm of max torque, sent outwards into the atmosphere via classical twin chromed silencers.

Twin KYB rear shocks, Nissin disc brakes and wire spokes on lightweight aluminum rims running the latest radial tires round up the old-school look.

As befitting the Special Edition tag, only 325 models of the Triumph Thruxton Ace Special Edition will be built, available only to customers in North America and Europe come end of 2014. Well, there goes our chance of owning piece of British motorcycling lore.
