The first official images of the new 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport have been leaked, ahead of its 3rd September debut. Slated to replace the ageing Freelander, the Sport should be the smallest derivative to host the Discovery name. Exact details are sketchy at best, but the Discovery will supposedly be offered in three variations: a compact, entry level one- the one in the pictures, a five seater “intermediate” model- could be on the lines of the Discovery Vision Concept, and followed by a full-sized model designed to accommodate 7 people- the big daddy! The new Discovery is internally known as the L550 Land Rover, and it should be offered in versions with two, as well as four-wheel drive-of course!
The styling is a nod to the Discovery Vision Concept, revealed at the New York Auto Show earlier this year, but is also laced with a lot of Evoque cues all around. The Land Rover Discovery Sport should also debut Terrain Laser Scanning , the fancy technology which allows the driver to scan and show the soil profile and altitude on the central display. Rest assured it’ll retain most of the off-roading capabilities that characterize the brand. World debut is confirmed for October 2014, at the Paris Motor Show.
