So it’s here finally- the BMW S1000XR is revealed and also puts an end to all our speculations of it being an F, XF, XR, Adventure etc.

“All good things come in fours” says BMW on the new S1000XR which happens to be the number four sequel to the S1000 family after the S1000RR, the HP4 and the S1000R Roadster. Built on the lines of “Adventure Sport” the 2015 BMW S1000XR borrows the S1000R inline four cylinder engine with a similar power output of 160 bhp @ 11,000 rpm and max torque of 112 nm @ 9250 rpm. These figures are enough to propel the S1000XR from 0-100 kph in 3.1 seconds with a top speed over 200 kph.

The new BMW S1000XR gets two power modes i.e. Rain and Road and Automatic Stability Control (ASC) as a standard feature. Two Pro riding modes viz “Dynamic” and “Dynamic Pro” alongwith Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), ABS Pro and Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) are being offered as an option.

Suspending the 2015 BMW S1000XR is an adjustable upside-down fork at the front and a double-sided swing arm with adjustable central spring strut at the rear. BMW says that the chassis geometry has been completely redefined in order to cater to the specific requirements of the XR.

The optional Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) combined with Pro riding modes and ABS Pro imparts greater safety when braking in a banked position and BMW says elate the riding experience to greater heights
