Audi has taken the wraps off the 2015 face-lifted Audi A6 range, including the A6, S6,S6 Avant, RS6 Avant and the A6 Allroad/Avant.
Audi face-lifts are usually blink-and-you-miss-it types and the new 2015 A6 refresh is no exception. Mild updates include a new single frame front grille, sharper headlights & taillights along with slightly modified bumpers with bigger air intakes up front, new side sills and exhaust pipes. The A6 range can also be optionally configured with LED or matrix LED headlights which work with dynamic turn signals.
The engines and drive trains see the bulk of updates here- all three TFSI and five TDI engines now meet the Euro 6 emission standard to start with. A new 1.8 TFSI ultra has joined the range and sees the A6/A6 Avant consume only 5.7 liters of fuel every 100 kms. There’s also a 2.0 TDI ultra with 150 PS (110 kW) that gives a fuel-efficiency figure of just 4.2 liters / 100 km. The TDI-powered model also comes with glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) springs causing a weight reduction of 4.4 kg (9.7 lbs). Both ultra models come with a newly developed S tronic transmission.
An updated 3.0 TDI clean diesel engine with 218 PS (160 kW) and 272 PS (200 kW) is also new. There’s a bi-turbo version of the same engine rated at 320 PS (235 kW) along with a more powerful 326 PS (240 kW) variant in the A6/A6 Avant 3.0 TDI competition where for a short amount of time it can develop 346 PS (255 kW).
The sportier S6 or S6 Avant gets a 4.0 TFSI bi-turbo V8 engine unleashing 450 PS (331 kW) allowing the high performance sedan hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds whereas the wagon is 0.2 seconds slower. The top of the line RS6 Avant generates a massive 560 PS (512 kW) punch from its 4.0 TFSI motor and does the 0-62 mph sprint in just 3.9 seconds before topping out at a rarified 189.5 mph (305 km/h).
