German auto major Volkswagen has brought the CrossBlue Coupe concept at the recently started auto show in Shanghai, China.

Dimensionally, the SUV is larger than Volkswagen Touareg full size SUV. The new CrossBlue Coupe measures 4.89 meters in length, 2.01 meters in width and 1.68 meters in height.

The new 2014 Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe uses a hybrid powertrain that endows the car with a max power output of 409bhp. All the power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. The turbo V6 petrol engine has a peak power of 291bhp and the remaining power comes from the electric motors which are located at front and rear axles.

The car can reach 100kmph from standstill in 5.9 seconds and has a top speed of 235 kmph.

The electric motors are powered by a 9 kWh battery pack that bestows the car with a range of 33kms on an all-electric mode. The electric powerplant is good for propelling the car to speeds of up to 120 kmph.

The car has a fuel economy of 6.9 l/100 km/h (40.9 mpg UK / 34.1 mpg US) on only petrol mode. On hybrid power, the fuel economy figure becomes 3.0 l/100km (79 mpg US/94.1 mpg UK).
