It has by now become a well known fact that the 2014 Mercedes E Class facelift will be launched in our country on June 25, which is just a week away.
Regulars here would remember that we recently posted that a 2014 E Class test mule was spotted near ARAI, Pune. The variant that was spotted is the E250 CDI diesel variant.
Now, a 2014 E Class facelift has been spotted in Bangalore. This time, the variant that has been seen is the E200 petrol. Unlike the E250CDI, this variant doesn’t sport a black painted roof.
Talking in general about the 2014 Mercedes Benz E Class facelift, the refreshed car features a single unit for each headlamp (replacing the outgoing model’s two units on each side layout). Along with getting a new set of headlamps, the front fascia also gets a revised grille and front bumper. The new grille on both the standard and performance variants sports a three pointed star and overall, the front end manages to look uncluttered and yet, sophisticated. On the sides, the car no longer sports the pontoon-style rear fenders and the retro touch has now been replaced by a crease that begins at the rear door and runs along the length of rear fender. The car also gets new foot wear in the form of stylish new mag wheel designs for both the standard and AMG variants. At the rear, the car seems to feature revised headlamps and a more sculpted bumper.
Changes on the inside are minimal with only new bits being a new three spoke steering wheel and a revised instrument binnacle.
We feel that overall, Mercedes has managed to improve upon the previous design without having to come up with an all new car altogether. The E Class sedan is already the highest selling car in Mercedes India’s product portfolio and our guess is that the launch of the facelift will help the E Class with registering an even better sales figure in our country.
