We have been reporting in detail about the upcoming 2014 Mercedes S Class. In the recent developments, it has emerged that the all new generation of the Mercedes flagship sedan will be unveiled on May 15th this year.

The new version of the mighty S is expected to set new benchmarks in comfort, features and opulence. Mercedes is aiming at the “best car in the world” title with the new S Class and preliminary reports suggest that the carmaker has got it very right with the new luxury saloon.

The good folks at Worldcarfans.com  report that the production of the new S Class would commence in August and the car is slated to hit the roads in its home market in September. The top end variants, the S550 4MATIC and the S63 AMG 4MATIC, would make it to the market some few later.

The new S Class is made with high input of aluminum with components such as the roof and bonnet made entirely of the lighter metal. The car will be available with as many as 11 exterior colour options with the inclusion of new shades like Diamond Silver, Ruby Black and Anthracite Blue.

Talking about the interiors, the insides of the new car will come with high quality leather and wood inserts on the dashboard and door panels. Mercedes will offer a choice of Burl Walnut, Myrtle Sunburst, Black Popular and Metalized Ash wooden panels. For the seats, the buyer gets to chose between regular leather, Nappa leather and designo leather for the seats. Other than featuring an overdose of leather and wood, the cabin will also get ambient lighting and a Burmester audio system.

Mercedes has also done the unthinkable by reducing the cabin noises even further! A recently leaked document by the German car maker talks about “dramatic reduction” of the cabin noise and we wonder how Mercedes has managed to lower the already low NVH levels.

The car will come with two 12.3” touchscreen displays, with one being used as the instrument cluster and the other for the COMAND infotainment system. The updated COMAND system on the new S will come with incorporated GPS navigation, iPod/MP3 playback and mbrace2 functionality.

Rear passengers, which will of course be the owners of the new S, will get 10 way electrically adjustable seat with powered foot rest. The new S sports Magic Body Control system which prepares the suspension to soak the undulations up ahead on the road.
