Tata Group owned British premium car maker Jaguar has lifted the covers off its new XJR at the 2013 New York Auto Show. The manufacturer claims that the Jaguar XJR is the sportiest model in its XJ range of cars.
The XJR comes with a new front splitter, ‘R’ side sills, a rear spoiler, a quad tailpipe arrangement, bonnet louvers, 20-inch Farallon alloy wheels which wear specially developed Pirelli tyres and a red logo for the front grill.
On the inside, the car comes with semi-aniline leather upholstery, Carbon Fiber or Piano Black finish for inserts and a 380W, 12-speaker surround sound system from Meridian.
Jaguar XJR shares its engine with the XKR-S GT. This means that the car is powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine that pumps out a max power of 542 bhp and a peak torque of 680 Nm. The motor is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The manufacturer claims that the new 2014 Jaguar XJR can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.4 seconds and has a top whack of 280 kmph. The XJR comes equipped with active electronic differential and Dynamic Stability Control system. The Jaguar XJR comes with a starting price of $1,16,000 (approx INR 62.95 lakhs).
