The 5 Series facelift has got only a mild nip and tuck which is very easy to miss out on. The treatment to the front fascia of the 5 Series is such that only the most hardcore of car aficionados would be able to spot the difference between the pre and post facelift models. What the 5 Series LCi has got is a mildly redesigned front bumper, an even more mildly redesigned kidney grille, extra crease in the apron, a silver strip on the boot, new motif for the tail lamps and optional squared-off corona rings for the headlight.
Changes to the inside are as minor the ones to the outside. The car gets an updated iDrive system, cup holders in the center console and 60 litres of addition boot space for the Gran Turismo variant.
The 2014 BMW 5 Series LCI gets Luxury Line and Modern Line trim levels along with Adaptive LED headlights, new exterior and interior colors and a new alloy wheel design.
The engines have been carried over from the pre-facelift model. However, BMW says that the engines have been tweaked to meet the EU6 exhaust gas standards that will come into effect from September 2014 in Europe.
The sedan and the touring variants also get a 518d variant for the European market. This entry level diesel variant is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel that has a max power output of 141hp and fuel consumption figure of 4.5 liters per 100kms. The motor has CO2 emission figure of 119 g/km. The 520d sedan and Touring models also get an xDrive all-wheel drive system.
For North America, BMW is offering a new 535d variant that is powered by a straight-six turbocharged diesel engine with 255 hp of max power nd 413 lb-ft of torque.

On the inside, the car gets a new steering wheel that has been borrowed from the M6, a new iDrive Touch system and new silver trim around the navigation screen.
