German premium car maker BMW has showcased the much publicized 2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo (GT) at the ongoing 2013 New York Motor Show. The car comes after the success of the 5 Series GT and sports a similar design at the rear.
Other changes that differentiate the car from the 3 series sedan include a different rear spoiler that deploys at 110 kmph and folds down below speeds of 70kph.
The 3 Series GT is 200mm longer and 81mm taller than the 3 Series Touring (estate) and the new car offers 70mm of more leg space for rear seat passengers. The car has a carnivorous boot space of 1,600 litres with rear seats folded down. With seats in place, the car has a decent boot space of 520 litres. The car has a 110mm longer wheelbase rides on bigger wheels (read: 17 inch).
The 3 Series GT will go on sale in US market with two engine variants- A 2.0 litre 240 bhp turbocharged petrol engine equipped 328i GT and a 3.0 litre 300 bhp V6 turbocharged petrol engine powered 335i GT.
