We reported in reasonable detail when first details of the new BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo emerged on the cyber space. Now, the new body variant of the 3’er has been unveiled at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.

The 3 Series GT is the notchback body variant of the high selling 3 series sedan and is similar in body style to the 5 Series GT that the Indian car market knows of.

The 2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo has a striking exterior design which impresses with its frameless windows, a well sculpted notchback and a profile that lends the car a hint of sportiness.

The front and rear passengers of the new 3 Series GT sit 59 mm higher than the occupants of the sedan variant and also enjoy more headroom. The rear seat passengers get 70mm of more leg space in the GT. The new car comes with a bigger boot with a capacity of 520 litres. The sedan has a boot of 495 litres.

The 2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo will be sold in two engine variants-

The 328i GT will be powered by a 2.0-litre 4 cylinder TwinTurbo engine that has a max power output of 240bhp and a peak torque figure of 345Nm. This is the same motor that powers the 328i sedan that is on sale in India. The more powerful 335i GT will be powered by a 3.0-liter inline 6 cylinder engine that has a max power output of 300bhp and a peak torque rating of 406Nm.Both the engines will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.

The 3 GT will go on sale in three trim levels- Sport, Luxury and Modern.

The BMW 5 Series GT has got a decent response from our market, which is generally fonder of traditional sedans. There is hence a slight possibility of the new BMW 3 Series GT coming to us.
