We have been reporting in fair bit of detail about the new 2014 Ssangyong Korando Turismo. The Korando Turismo, which is essentially the next generation of Ssangyong Rodius, has now been launched in its home market.

The all-new 2013 Korando Turismo MPV is a 11-Seater feature-laden MPV that is available with both Petrol and Diesel engine and comes in both 2-Wheel Drive (2WD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD) guises.

Ssangyong Motor Corporation says that the new Korando Turismo is a Multi Leisure Vehicle (MLV). Trust marketing guys to come up with anything! SMC invested a sum of 180 Billion Korean Won (INR 880.90 Crores) for the development of the Korand Turismo and it took almost two and a half years for the manufacturer to come up with the new vehicle.

The Ssangyong Rodius, the model that Korando Turismo replaces, was first launched in 2004 and brought a lot of flak to SMC for its ungainly styling and proportions. The Ssangyong Rodius is rated as one of the world’s worst design cars by some and we don’t feel they are too wrong.

The styling of the new Turismo, the next generation Rodius, is surely a breath of fresh air when compared with that of the current generation.

The front fascia of Korando Turismo gets a chunky headlamps cluster, a gigantic grill and an air dam which is split into two. When viewed in side profile, gone are the bland surfaces of the outgoing model and we get a pleasant styling with a smooth character line flowing all the way to the tail lamps. One of the eye catchy details of the side profile is the quarter glass at the A pillar and stylish alloy wheels. At the rear, the car is adorned with stylish tail lamps and the rear bumper gets integrated reflectors.
