The Maruti Suzuki SX4 has never managed to take the C segment by storm. Much of it can be attributed to the fact that MSIL, which is India’s largest selling car maker, doesn’t enjoy the kind of image that Honda and Toyota enjoy in minds of Indian car buying lot.

Maruti Suzuki SX4, which has been in the market for more than half a decade now, is dominated by newer and more modern rivals such as the Volkswagen Vento and the Hyundai Verna. However, MSIL wishes to change all this by launching a facelift of the fast ageing car in Indian market. This is the same facelift that was launched in China a few months ago. The 2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 facelift has been caught testing on numerous occasions and now, a 2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 facelift display car has been seen at the service centre of a MSIL dealership in Bangalore.

The SX4 facelift gets a revised front fascia that sports a new front grille that replaces the honeycomb grille that made its debut along with the diesel engine variant. The new grille, which replaces the honeycomb unit of the previous SX4, comes with horizontal slats and dollops of chrome. Thanks to a high affinity towards chrome, the Indian car buying lot should find the updated SX4 more appealing than before.

On the inside, the SX4 facelift gets black and beige colour shades. While the dashboard of the car comes finished in black, the seats get beige upholstery. It is expected that the car will come with a longer equipment list on all trim levels.

The 2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 will continue with the three engine options available on the current car: a 1.6 Liter petrol engine, a 1.6 Liter petrol-CNG engine and a 1.3 Liter turbo diesel engine. All the motors come mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard, with the petrol motor getting the optional 4 speed automatic gearbox.

The 2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 might be launched at an attractive starting price and it will be interesting to see if a minor facelift would be enough to turn the fortunes of the low selling car.
