Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the much publicized 2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 facelift. The facelift gets a revised front fascia, new exterior colors, revised interiors and re-tuned engine for better fuel efficiency.
The petrol variant of the Maruti Suzuki SX4, which is powered by a 1.6 litre engine, becomes more fuel efficient and gets a new claimed fuel economy figure of 16.51kmpl. The diesel variant, which is powered by the Fiat sourced Multijet oil burner in its VGT avatar, gets an increased fuel economy figure of 21.79 kmpl. The CNG variant continues to have a FE figure of 22.1 km/kg.
The revised front fascia gets a new grille that comes with dollops of chrome, a new bumper and new foglamps. The new grille makes the front end more aesthetic and should appeal to the C segment car buyers. On the inside, the car gets new colour for interior tones and the black dashboard + beige upholstery make a comeback.
The SX4 update gets an optional touchscreen interface for the audio system and navigation. The air con vents and door handles come finished in chrome and another new feature is the addition of electric foldable operation for the ORVMs. The ORVMs also get trafficators incorporated into them.
Explaining the new features Mr. Manohar Bhat, Vice President Marketing, says, “The all new Maruti Suzuki SX4 hasnew looks, andalso brings new features such as touch screen audio navigation and electronically foldable ORVMs with turn indicator. In addition, the improved fuel efficiency is sure to delight users of this segment.Powered by two celebrated engines the Super Turbo 1.3 Litre diesel and the 1.6 Litre VVT petrol engine, the car now offers much more to the car connoisseurs in this segment.”

Unlike what was being speculated, the updated car has been launched with no increase in prices. It will be really interesting to see if a mild facelift would change the fortunes of the not-so-high selling car.
