We just visited the Skoda’s stall at the Auto Expo 2012, New Delhi. We have been reporting about the smart Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo and stunning Skoda R S 2000 and here we bring to our readers a quick report on the Czech manufacturer’s line up on display.
Skoda Fabia R S 2000
The Skoda Fabia R S 2000’s styling pays homage to Fabia Super 2000. The Fabia Super 2000 bagged the title at both the S-WRC world championship and the IRC Intercontinental Rally Challenge. The styling of RS 2000 is hints at the car’s sporty and powerful nature. The car rides on 18-inch alloy rims, has spoilers at both front and rear and the car was seen wearing the ŠKODA green-and-white rally livery. Again, black painted mirrors and a massive air intake in the front apron make the car look fast even when it is at standstill. The design language of the interiors is similar to that of the Fabia R S. Body hugging sports seats feel very much at home in this car. The very ergonomic interior includes three-spoke sports steering wheel, sporty shift lever sleeve and hand brake’s handle. Once again, a hint of Fabia R S can be seen at the stainless steel pedals.
Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo
Fabia Monte Carlo has a sporty front-end design that features a tinge of black smoke in headlights’ and foglights’ projectors. In typical ‘souped up car’ fashion, the rear view mirrors too are painted in black. And the ‘attack of the Black’ doesn’t ceases here, as the entire roof, rear spoiler and the sporty 16-inch alloy wheels rims is covered in the darkest colour of them all. Now, our favourite bit- the low ground clearance (GC) due to the sports suspension comes as standard. The interior styling is inspired from Fabia RS’s interior. The Fabia Monte Carlo’s engine options include five high-torque petrol power plants and four diesel engines. .
We really hope that Skoda considers launching the two cars in our Indian market. These maybe far from being volume sellers but will surely post a wide grin of faces of the performance enthusiasts of this country. Along with these two very interesting cars, Skoda’s stall at the Expo features the usual suspects (read: Fabia, Rapid, Laura, Yeti and Superb).
On the second day of our visit, Skoda added one more variant of Fabia at its Auto Expo line up. At first glance, the Fabia Scout appears to be just another Fabia, albeit, with matte black lower plastic cladding and a Safari Beige paintjob. The car also gets projector headlamps among other features. Now, the interested part, the car borrows the 1.6 litre oil burner 105 PS engine from elder sibling Rapid. A diesel pocket rocket it sure should be. Bring it on Skoda!
