2011 Elantra Caught testing

  • Expected Launch: 2011.
  • Expected Price: 13-15 lakh, On Road.

Hyundai has moved up rapidly among the ranks in the automotive industry in recent years. People who used to ridicule the Korean marque no longer dare ridicule it. The present Hyundai’s have already started giving the traditional market leaders some hard tussles.

The erstwhile Elantra never managed to make an impression on the Indian market, mostly thanks to its unpopular looks. By the looks of it, the new Elantra is the best looking Hyundai, ever. High praise indeed, especially considering the fact that the recently launched Genesis and the iX35 are lookers, in their own right.

The current one never made it to India. But the future Elantra definitely will. It is already undergoing real-life testing at various locations around the world. Dimensionally it is much bigger the current model. The hexagonal grille seen on the iX35 is set to become a standard feature on all the future Hyundais. The overall design looks much sportier thanks to the steeply raked windshield and a lower roof-line. The interiors too look great in terms of design as well as quality and will be a fine match to the latest from Europe.

The engine options will range from 1.6 to 2 litre, 4-cylinder petrols and a 2.0 CRDi diesel. The engine options will definitely include a couple of direct injection petrol units.
