The Bengaluru-based electric vehicle manufacturer, Ather is celebrating a new production milestone as the company rolled out the 1,00,000th unit of its 450X electric scooter. Ather Energy’s CEO – Tarun Mehta announced the news of hitting this new production milestone on social media by sharing a video of the 100,000th unit rolling off the assembly line.
Tarun Mehta also linked his previous post tweeted a year ago on the rising sales of the e-scooter company. That post mentioned the sales of Ather’s e-scooters in various timelines. The attached post was made by him to celebrate the company’s achievement of 50,000 e-scooter sales which Ather had achieved in August 2022. The e-scooter maker produced its 25,000th unit in March 2022, while the 50,000th unit was produced in May of last year.
About The 2023 450X
Last month, Ather introduced the updated 450X in the Indian market. The new model comes with a redesigned seat, new paint schemes, and a 14-liter front storage compartment. The 2023 Ather 450X also comes with the latest Atherstack 5.0 software, which includes new features such as Auto Hold, a new interface, and Vector Maps with live traffic overlays.
The e-scooter manufacturer has been witnessing a constant rise in its monthly sales in the past year. Currently, Ather has 56 outlets in 50 cities across India out of which 14 were opened in December 2022 in Noida, Nellore, Karimnagar, Udupi, Kottayam, and Shivamogga. It further aims to have a total of 120 showrooms in 95 cities by the end of FY2023.
Aside from completing the 1 lakh production milestone, the EV manufacturer has also announced to expand its Ather Grid public charging stations from 580 in October to 885 today across the country.
Ather’s Hosur Plant
The Ather 450X is manufactured at the company’s Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu. The plant has the capacity to produce more than 1,00,000 units a year. The new plant, which employs 1,600 personnel, is twice the size of the first plant with two vehicle and three battery lines.
Presently, Ather offers two models in India, the 450 Plus and the top-of-the-line 450X, which are priced at Rs. 1.19 lakh and Rs. 1.42 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) respectively.
