Quickshifter DUke

VIDEO: Shifting gears without the clutch with a Race Dynamics Quick Shifter on the Duke 390

Anyone who has ever experienced switching between gears on a motorcycle fitted with a quick shifter will know that there’s no coming back to regular shifting after that. Some racers even suggest that it’s okay to shift gears without engaging the clutch. But unless you do it the right way, you’d only be damaging the motorcycle. Available as an after market fitment for most high capacity motorcycles, the folks at Race Dynamics have come up with a Quick shifter for the Duke 390.

This one though is a one-way quick shifter. Meaning, you can only upshift without using the clutch. A rather simple device, the Quick shifter is a sensor which reads the position of the gear lever and momentarily cuts the fuel/ignition, which unloads the transmission. During this time, the rider can shift up to the next gear without rolling off the throttle or using the clutch. The more advanced quick shifters will also let you downshift and even blip the throttle to rev match while you’re at it.
