The fact that you clicked on this link, probably means that you are a fan of the Fast & Furious movies franchise. If so, these are some facts that we found which might interest the nerd in you. Also, for the nerds among you,  we have also attached some fancy graphs that will make our claims even clearer. In all, the seven movies span a total runtime of about 14 hours and have reeled in over 3 billion dollars (and counting). Without any further ado, let’s begin…

Fast & Furious facts (5)

The Fast & the Furious. First of the breed.

The very genesis of the whole franchise – The Fast & the Furious, had the maximum use of nitrous oxide by the characters. The 2001 movie displayed the characters using NOS the most, even if this movie had the lead actors spending the least amount of time behind the wheel of their cars. As the franchise moved forward, the usage of nitrous actually went down.

This graph clearly shows that the 2001 movie loved its nitrous a lot.

Along with the drop in use of nitrous oxide, this movie franchise also saw spikes and then drops of swear words/expletives. The appropriately termed “rate of fury” hotted up in the second installment – 2 Fast 2 Furious, but was noted as being the least furious in the third movie in the franchise – Tokyo Drift. The latter is also famous for being the least profitable amongst other installments of the franchise.

This graph proves that 2 Fast 2 Furious was more furious than fast.

Now, this entire franchise of movies is all about driving and of course, being furious and everything. So which one do you think scored top marks on the driving front? And Furious 7 is the right answer! According to some careful analysis by Bloomberg, the seventh installment contained up to 49 minutes of driving time. Most of it, done fast.

Angry Dwayne Johnson firing a gatling gun. Well, that takes care of the “furious” bit.

The other place where the latest movie scores the tonne, is in its runtime of fight sequences. The whole movie had 33 minutes of furious action taking place. Oh, not to mention, maximum flow of adrenaline and testosterone, too. No wonder that this iteration accumulated $143.6 million on its opening weekend, alone.

Fast & Furious facts (3)

Furious 7 topped the chart on the counts of Fast & Fury.

Obviously, within all this mayhem, there were some moments of peace and quiet to be found. Some nice family time. The sixth edition scored most marks for its showcase of the much needed family bonding time. The second and the fourth edition, however, didn’t score too well on that front.

Furious 7 won’t be the last of this franchise, if that’s what you thought. Word is that there might very well be an eighth movie in the near future. But for most fans of this series, the seventh movie will possibly be the most emotional one of all and we all know why (rest in peace Paul Walker).
