The final scene of Furious 7 was heavy. Eyes across entire nations went moist as the white Toyota Supra charted a different course through the fleeting sunlight, marking the final on-screen appearance of the late Paul Walker. Wiz Khalifa’s new music video “See You Again” pays a touching tribute to the actor and is a fitting end to the film.
The track, which features Charlie Puth is an official Fast & Furious 7 film soundtrack, features clips of Walker playing Brian O’Connor in his heydays, and also includes the genial star’s final scenes. Universal Pictures’ president of music Mike Knoblock said they chose that song because they didn’t want people leaving the ‘theatre sad’ – yeah, right!
The seventh installment of the highly popular franchise amassed a record-breaking $143.6 million during its opening weekend, beating the likes of last year’s Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. Its earnings make it the 9th largest opening weekend of all time, and the top earning non-superhero movie of all time.
