The new 2015 Yamaha R1 shares almost nothing with the outgoing model, except the name. This next-gen super bike has been developed to be a totally new high performance motorcycle, which gets that much closer to the machines which factory riders experience on the track. Powered by a compact and new inline 4-cylinder 4-valve crossplane engine that develops 200PS without the use of ram air induction, the new short wheelbase chassis benefits from weight reducing features such as a magnesium subframe and magnesium wheels in order to achieve a wet weight of only 199kg.

The 2015 Yamaha R1 features the first ever 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) ever featured on a street-legal machine, comes equipped with banking sensitive Traction Control, as well as Slide Control, Front Lift Control, Quickshifter, Launch Control, ABS and a Unified Brake System. Watch Cameron Beaubier ride the all-new R1 at Chuckwalla Raceway, in preparation to compete in the upcoming MotoAmerica AMA Superbike Series starting April 2015.
