Datsun launched the new-gen GO in 2018 in India, priced at Rs 3,29,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car now gets subtle cosmetic upgrades on the outside and inside, which makes the car a great entry-level hatchback.
The Datsun GO is offered in five different petrol-powered variants - D, A, A (O), T, and T (O). The car is 3788 mm long, 1636 mm wide, 1507 mm in height and it has a wheelbase of 2450 mm. The new-gen Datsun GO is now 27 kgs heavier than its predecessor and comes fitted with a blacked-out honeycomb mesh grille up front, surrounded with chrome inserts.
The car is fitted with conventional headlamps which do get modern elements in the form of vertical LED DRLs. In terms of appearance, the Datsun GO looks like a proper hatchback and is a well-proportioned car in comparison to its rivals. The side profile shows off the car's 14-inch dual tone alloy wheels, along with blacked-out B and C pillar. The overall picture gets completed with a pleasant looking rear which gets conventional taillights, a rear wiper on top-spec trims and Datsun badging.
The most significant changes have taken place on the inside. The faux carbon fibre and chrome inserts around the cabin looks quite upmarket. The seats are covered in better materials with orange accents and a GO badge on the backrest. Even the floor mats get the same orange accents. The centre console now hosts a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The feature which will disappoint you a little is the unavailability of steering mounted controls. The Air conditioner works pretty well to chill down the car's temperature on a hot sunny day. The Datsun GO also offers a decent amount of storage spaces that consists of cupholders, bottle holders, glovebox and 265-litres of boot space. The latest model of the Datsun GO comes loaded with a sufficient amount of features which will surely make your commuting more effortless.
Datsun has taken the safety aspect very seriously, considering the new Go now offers ABS with EBD, brake assist, central locking, rear parking sensors and a drivers side airbag as standard. On the other hand, the top spec variant comes with features like dual airbags, keyless entry and rear wiper and washer.
Under the hood, the Datsun GO derives power from a 1.2-litre three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol unit which churns out respective power and torque output of 68 ps at 5000 rpm and 104 Nm at 4000 rpm. The engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, although we can expect an AMT option in near future. The Datsun Go is rated for an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of 20.6 km/l in the city and 22 km/l on the highway. The 1.2-litre petrol unit has got quite some torque at the low end which keeps the car happy even while tackling chaotic, urban situations. Power feels sufficient for the car and the exhaust note delivers a sporty experience if you dig the accelerator deep.
Datsun GO price starts from INR 3.29 Lakh to INR 4.89 Lakh.
