Tata Motors recently delivered the matte green Tata Safari Storme SUVs (GS800) to the Indian Army. In recent updates, the car maker is expected to deliver a Safari Storme based pick-up truck to the Indian Army.
Tata Motors has showcased the Safari Storme pick-up truck at the DefExpo 2018. The SUV was showcased alongside the dual-cab, military version of the Tata Xenon. The single-cab pick-up, shod with the GS800 label, gets a short wheelbase and a soft top roof over the flat-bed. The pick-up truck has been painted in Indian Army camouflage colours. The vehicle boasts a payload capacity of 800 kilograms and 4×4 capability. The General Service or GS is the specification for new lightweight personnel carriers for the Indian army.

The mechanical specifications are expected to be identical to the Safari Storme GS800. Thus, the Tata Safari Storme pick-up will feature a 2.2-litre VariCor, four cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that is tuned to produce 154 Bhp of peak power and 400 Nm of peak torque. The 4×4 variant also features ESOF (electronic shift-on-fly) technology, enabling engagement of the 4×4 or 4×2 mode on the move.
