Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (HMCL), India’s highest selling two-wheeler manufacturer, registered its highest ever monthly sales in January 2013.

Contributing to the record sales are the manufacturer’s ‘bread and butter’ brands Splendor and Passion along with the newly launched Ignitor, Passion X-Pro and Maestro. Hero MotoCorp sold a record 5,57,797 units of two-wheelers in January this year. As we said earlier, this is HMCL’s highest-ever sales for any single month. The previous highest was in the month of May 2012 when Hero MotoCorp had sold 5,56,644 units.

The sales figure of 5,57,797 units represents a growth of 7.21% per cent over the corresponding month of the previous year when HMCL had sold 5,20,272 units.

Mr. Anil Dua, Senior Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp, said “With this record performance, we have made a confident beginning to the new year. Our new motorcycle launches like Ignitor and Passion X-Pro are receiving excellent customer response, while growth in our scooters, Pleasure & Maestro, is outpacing the industry growth. The overall two-wheeler industry is again showing good volumes, and we are hopeful of keeping up the momentum.”

In the month of January, Hero MotoCorp commenced construction of its fourth manufacturing plant and the Global Parts Centre (GPC) at Neemrana in Rajasthan. The company will invest a total of Rs 550 crore in setting up these facilities.

The company has also been investing consistently in its brand-building initiatives. Last few months have seen new campaigns on Splendor, Xtreme and Glamour. HMCL is also the Title Sponsor of the ongoing Hero Hockey India League, a new-format hockey tournament and yet another step by Hero MotoCorp in its association with sports in the country.
